The Estate

Why Eagle Canyon homes get specified differently

01

Big glass, facing the green

Homes here are built to look at the fairway, not away from it — floor-to-ceiling glass and stacking doors are the norm, so glare and heat gain need a real answer, not an afterthought.

02

Highveld storms in summer

Roodepoort's summer brings real wind gusts and the odd hailstorm. Any awning, external venetian or screen left exposed needs to retract itself before the storm arrives, not after.

03

The estate's own rules

Like most golf estates, Eagle Canyon runs an aesthetics or architectural committee with a say over anything visible from outside — awning colours, external shading, even roller shutter finishes. We spec within what estates typically expect, though the committee always has final sign-off.

04

A wide mix of homes

From low-rise fairway-facing townhouse clusters to grand double-storey houses on the green — window spans here run from a single bedroom opening to a full wall of stacking doors, and each one needs its own measure.

"Estate homes are built to frame the fairway. The blinds just have to keep up with the view." — our approach to every Eagle Canyon quote

Questions

Straight answers before you book

Do I need estate approval for exterior awnings or external blinds?
Most golf estates, Eagle Canyon included, keep an architectural or aesthetics committee that signs off on anything visible from outside — awning colours, external shading, even roller shutter finishes. We'll help you put together what estates typically ask for, but the committee always has final say, so it's worth checking with them before installation is scheduled.
Will blinds actually stop the afternoon glare off the fairway glass?
Sunscreen fabric in a 3–5% weave is the standard fix — it cuts glare and UV hard while keeping the view of the green. On the harshest west-facing walls, we'll often pair it with external venetians so the heat never reaches the glass in the first place.
Do big glass walls need to be motorised?
Not always — but wide or high spans, like stacking doors or double-volume windows, usually make more sense motorised. A wall of glass with six blind panels is far easier to manage from one remote or app than six separate chains.
What happens to awnings and screens in a highveld storm?
Wind is the number-one way exterior products get damaged. We spec awnings and external screens with a wind sensor as standard, so they retract automatically before a gust or hailstorm reaches them.
We have small children — what are the safe control options?
Every corded or chained product we fit uses a wall-anchored tensioner as standard, and we'll always offer cordless or motorised control for nurseries and playrooms — genuinely the safest option, with no dangling cord at all.
What does the process look like from here?
You get in touch, we book a free in-home measure at a time that suits you, you receive a written per-window quote with no pressure to accept it on the spot, and once you're happy we schedule the make and fit.
